What sanctions can the Mortgagee Review Board impose upon an FHA-approved mortgagee?

The Mortgagee Review Board has the authority to impose the following sanctions: withdrawal of approval, suspension of approval, probation, letter of reprimand, and imposition of civil money penalties.

In cases involving the improper origination or underwriting of single family mortgages, the Mortgagee Review Board may require the lender to indemnify HUD for any losses it may suffer if a mortgage insurance claim is filed.
