Where can Mortgagees get information on filing claims?

The holding or servicing Mortgagee must submit the claim using one of the following methods:

Electronic Data Interchange
The Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) is an online system for Mortgagees to electronically file claims.  The Mortgagee may submit claims via EDI for all claims other than Loss Mitigation Home Retention incentive claims and supplement claims.

Mortgagees may find information on using EDI in HUD’s EDI Implementation Guide at https://www.hud.gov/program_offices/housing/comp/edi/edi

FHA Connection

FHA Connection (FHAC) is an online system for Mortgagees to access and communicate to HUD, origination, servicing, and Mortgagee approval and recertification information.  Mortgagees may submit claims using FHAC for conveyances, Loss Mitigation Home Retention Option incentives, and Pre-Foreclosure Sale (PFS) claims.  Mortgagees may not use FHAC for filing Single Family Loan Sale (SFLS) claims, Claims Without Conveyance of Title (CWCOT), Property located on Indian Land claims, Hawaiian Home Land claims, and supplemental claims.

Mortgagees may find information on using FHAC in the Quick Start Guide: Single Family Servicing Claims Processing at https://entp.hud.gov/qckstart/sfsclaim.cfm

Manual Submission Process

A Manual Claim is submitted when a claim cannot be submitted via EDI or FHA Connection for processing.  The Mortgagee may submit manual claims for all claims other than Loss Mitigation Home Retention incentive claims and SFLS claims, where disallowed by the Participating Servicer Agreement (PSA).

Suspended Claim Dashboard

The “Suspended Claim Dashboard” in P260/Yardi allows servicers to upload suspended documentation as an alternative to mailing hard copy documents to the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), thus increasing efficiency and limiting the amount of paper used.

For questions about FHA Single Family Claims Processing and accessing or using the dashboard, email the Claims Help Desk at FHA_SFClaims@hud.gov

FHA policy information related to the Claim Submission Process is available in Handbook 4000.1 Section IV.A.1. at https://www.hud.gov/program_offices/administration/hudclips/handbooks/hsgh
