After completing the counseling of the borrower by telephone, the counselor may fax (or email) the counseling certificate (containing only the counselor's signature) to the lender.
This copy containing only the counselor's signature will serve as an acknowledgement of the completion of counseling and the lender can then contact the borrower to determine if the borrower is interested in going forward with the reverse mortgage loan application.
The Certificate of HECM Counseling Form HUD 92902 was revised to include:
• HECM Saver as an option
• The Agency Housing Counseling System ID number (which has replaced the Agency Tax ID number)
• HECM for Purchase Certification by homebuyer (as applicable)
• A specific data field for attorney-in-fact (AIF) holding a Power of Attorney (POA) (name and signature line)
