The Real Estate Settlement and Procedures Act (RESPA) dictates how much money is required in your escrow account. The law states that the lender is required to collect one-twelfth of each escrowed item along with a maximum cushion of 2 months of your regular escrow payment based off of State law.
If there are questions about a mortgage's escrow payment, borrowers should contact their lender and speak to someone in the Escrow Department.
