Must the prior case number be restored for a HUD REO property before ordering a new case number?

When requesting a new case number where a prior case number exists (whether on an FHA to FHA refinance or on the purchase of a HUD REO property), it is not necessary to restore the prior case number if it has been archived. A new case number will be issued even if the prior case number is in archive.

It may be necessary to have the previous case number restored if there is a question about the address not matching the current address.
